Honest Project is built around groups of users called “Participants”. Participants can be individuals, like Owners, or they can be organizations0ffering their services, like Lenders, Builders, Vendors and Subcontractors.
This article will quickly explain how to use our Account Manager Page to edit participant settings and how to add or invite user accounts for your participant.
Editing the Participant and Business Information
On the Account Manager Page, below the gray box labeled Participant Information, select the “Edit” button.
The first field under Participant Information is labeled “Participant Name.” This is the name other users see in Honest Project and if a business, the name that is displayed in the Service Directory.
The “Participant Type” indicates whether or not the participant is listed in our Service Directory. Note that businesses can “opt-out” of being listed in the Service Directory by selecting “Individual”. They will still be able to participate in multiple projects.
Selecting the type “Business” expands the form, requiring a bit more information. The business categories and range fields are especially important in providing additional information about the participant’s services and where they will work. For example, a drywall company may not be willing to lay bricks, especially if the job is 1,000 miles away.
Hint: To select multiple business categories, drag your mouse in the Business Categories box or hold down “Ctrl” on your keyboard while selecting the desired categories.
Project Roles
Finally, participants can indicate their preferred project roles (Owner, Builder, Lender, etc.) by using the Eligible Roles check boxes.
These preferences define what roles they are willing to accept on any given project, although ultimately that is determined when a project is created and the final participants are selected.
For example, let’s say a participant chose to list themselves as both a Builder and a Subcontractor. If they are invited to a project as a Subcontractor, they will not have the same access to that project that is normally granted to the Builder of a project.
Once the required fields have been entered, select the “Save” button and proceed to the User List section found at the bottom of the Account Manager Page.
My User Account and User List
Once the Participant information has been completed, users connected to the participant can be added. There are two ways to add users – via our “Find and Add a User” link or by sending an email invitation. If the user is already an Honest Project user, use the “Find and Add a User” link, otherwise create a New User Invitation. When sending an invitation, you can indicate what level of access the user has for the participating organization – Master or Agent. Master users can create, delete or edit other user accounts.
The User List shows you a listing of all users that have been invited (or added) for this participant. Each can have Master or Agent level of access. To change the level of access, click on the “Edit” link next to their name in the User List. Two checkboxes will appear to the left under the text “Level of Access.” Select Master or Agent to set that user’s level of access to the Participant account and its users.
